The Nobody Show

Available at Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com

"The Nobody Show is an accident waiting to happen...

Old Castle (population 666 ... 665 ... 664) is a town ravaged by unemployment. The magic is gone and the economy is in the gutter, but newest dole statistic, Arthur Lawless, has a dream...

Arthur wants to chase down his childhood dream to build his own circus. He makes it his mission to put on The Greatest Show on Earth - Old Castle's slice of Earth, at least..."

You have no idea how much I have been looking forward to this book – both as a reader and as an editor!
Packed with humorous happenings, “The Nobody Show” is the third offering from author Jonathan Dunne .
If you have read “Balloon Animals” and “Living Dead Lovers” there are a few extra guffaws to be had during the journey.
The quality of both the story line and the way it is written makes this book very easy to read. I was truly disappointed to reach the end. Mixed in among the laughs and giggles caused by Arthur Lawless and his antics is a... No, I won’t tell you. Read “The Nobody Show” and find out for yourself!

DOWN STREAM - Episode 1

Available for FREE at Smashwords  and for £0.99 at Amazon.co.uk

"Let me introduce myself. My name is Joseph Bridgeman. I am a moderately depressed, reclusive insomniac with a failing antiques business and a constant headache.
And you need to trust me when I tell you, that’s the good bit.
I’ve lived alone for years, avoiding social contact and emotional connection very nicely thanks. Until now. You see, when you stop earning, money tends to run out (ever noticed that?) and if I don’t do something soon, Martin says I could be out on the street; and that would mean connecting with people and for someone with my affliction that never ends wells. Martin? Oh he’s my annoyingly successful accountant. This morning he gave me the name of a hypnotherapist, said it might help. Clearly, he doesn’t understand how busy I am? I have places to go, things to do, people to avoid, vinyl to buy.
Anyway, I went to see her and things got a little complicated. I thought my day started badly but where I ended up? I could never, ever, possibly have imagined. Oh, did I just say where? What I meant to say was when…"

I can't recall reading a book with a main character that feels as real, as solid - as human - as Joseph Bridgeman does.

The story flows along very nicely and, if you're like me, you'll find yourself chuckling with amusement at times, sitting forward in anticipation at others, and at the end you'll be wishing you could time travel to get to the next episode!

Another offering of pure delight from author Nick Jones.

The Embers of Hope

Available for pre-order in Kindle format from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com

"After narrowly escaping the Shiryaevo Vault, Nathan O’Brien is on the run, adapting to life without Jennifer Logan. In his possession: a powerful mind control device known as the Histeridae and evidence of the Hibernation Program’s true agenda.
Beginning with George Mohanty and his words ‘Death is a relative term’, he must unravel the mystery of the Histeridae. But Nathan is on borrowed time, trapped inside a body that was never supposed to last. Can he bring back the woman he loves and expose the truth before it’s too late, or will the past finally catch up with him?
From the mountains of India to the futuristic streets of London and Dubai, The Embers of Hope is the thrilling second instalment in the Hibernation saga."

Sounds good? Really, it's much, much better than good!

Darker, deeper and more emotional (though not "sappy" by any means!) "The Embers of Hope" is a superb continuation of the "Hibernation" series, which began with "The Whisper of Stars".
You don't need to have read "The Whisper of Stars" to enjoy this book, but why would you not want to?! I'd recommend reading book 1 while you are waiting for book 2!

Nick Jones' writing is superb. If you want to feel truly cocooned in a story, wrapped up in words, this is a book you shouldn't miss.

Baby Girl Book 4: A Bite of the Big Apple

Planned for release in January, 2015, "A Bite of the Big Apple" - the 4th book in the Baby Girl series -  is another triumph for Elle Klass.

Unfortunately, I have no synopsis or cover to share as yet.

Suffice it to say that this wonderful series of "bite size" books has converted me to shorter works of fiction!
It has been amazing to watch the story unfold and the characters grow.

Editing "A Bite of the Big Apple" was a joy (although I did keep forgetting what I was supposed to be doing, as I was enjoying the story so much!).

Look out for a sneak preview of the cover and synopsis at a later date.

Eye of The Storm: Eilida's Tragedy (Ruthless Storm Book 1)

Available for pre-order (release date October 24, 2014) in Kindle format from Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com

"A disturbance at her neighbor's house piques Eilida’s curiosity. What she discovers is so shocking it sends her running through the mountainous woods during a thunderstorm. She slips on the wet ground, plummets down Mount Wilde, and slams into a large boulder beside River Freedom. Eilida is transported to Lyden, where Sunshine, a receptionist at the local paper becomes engrossed in her story. The further Sunshine delves into Eilida’s life the more entangled their lives become. Paranormal events, frightening dreams, and terror filled memories draw the women together into an unthinkable web of horror."

The synopsis for "Eye of the Storm: Eilida's Tragedy" should be enough to make anyone pick up a copy!

Having had the privilege of receiving an advanced copy from Elle Klass and then being asked to edit, I like to think I can add a little more about why you should get your copy as soon as possible.

The story isn't so much written as it is woven, and Elle Klass writes with a natural fluidity that makes her work a joy to read (and edit!).
There is something for every adult, whether you enjoy reading about the paranormal, romance, chick-lit, horror, thrillers, mystery - it's all there!

It's not often that a book leaves me with chills - this one did.

Salvation

Currently available in Kindle format for £2.05 at Amazon.co.uk or $3.33 at Amazon.com

"Nearly 10 years after witnessing the death of his family during an alien invasion, Alex is recruited as part of an elite group tasked with hunting down the aliens before they return to enslave mankind. However, the group soon realise that their foe and the galaxies are far more deadly and ruthless than even they feared, and learn from another alien race the true extent of the 5 power forces which wield unlimited supremacy. After accidentally harnessing one of these powers, it becomes clear that Alex’s fate is intertwined with the destiny of the power forces, and he becomes embroiled in a battle with the vast armies of his dark enemy across the galaxies, leading to a momentous battle which will define the destiny for all living beings throughout the cosmos. Fast paced, full of action but with a real violent edge, this book is ideal for anyone who enjoys Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones!!"

That is the synopsis for "Salvation" by A.M.C. - which is the latest manuscript I have had the pleasure of editing.

This is a story of epic proportions. Right from the first page, it draws you into the lives of the characters so completely that you barely notice the length of the novel.
Love some, hate some - the characters are built with such depth that indifference to any is not an option.

The language and violence make this book unsuitable for younger readers, and it is by no means aimed at children.

A.M.C. has written a novel with all the qualities needed for it to become a classic of our time.

Io Deceneus - Journal of a Time Traveler

Currently available on Kindle for just £0.99 at Amazon.co.uk or $1.68 at Amazon.com

"The Universe is conscious, discreet, has many avatars, and likes to experiment on … us. Powerful Factions, the supreme form of social evolution in a galaxy where all civilizations are human-like, interfere for their own mysterious ends. When confident enough they challenge The Universe seeding war and political mayhem by altering the fabric of time.
He has been chosen to stop the genocide and change the pattern of history, and the fate of the whole galaxy: a galaxy where Earth is considered an example of a failed civilization. Rogue Factions want to eliminate the Erins – a mysterious quantum-mind experiment representing the next level of intelligent life. Earth's “model” is used to start the war and he is the best choice to counter it."

That is the synopsis for "Io Deceneus - Journal of a Time Traveler" by Florian Armas.

What the synopsis doesn't tell you is how well thought out this novel is, or how well written.

I first read "Io Deceneus - Journal of a Time Traveler" a few months before I was asked to edit it. I was very taken with the story line, which in parts deals with regular life that we can all relate to. Florian Armas has taken the history of mankind and explored (in a science fiction setting) where it all went wrong, and toys with ideas for how we can put it right.

"Io Deceneus - Journal of a Time Traveler" was a joy to edit. Florian Armas' writing style has a natural flow, and the story line has a level of complexity that was wonderful to work with.

I've pencilled in a re-read (purely for fun) later this year.

Another satisfied client.

Taking pride in your work is very important - even more so when it comes to editing, with the possibility of hundreds, if not thousands, of readers having their experience enhanced by your efforts.

Recognition of a "job well done" is priceless. Here is the latest review for Bookmarks Editing:

I recently commissioned Bookmarks Editing to do a full proof of my manuscript, Origin - Season One. I was extremely impressed with both the quality and speed of service. Considering the manuscript had already been extensively edited multiple times, I was both astounded and relieved at the results; astounded at the number of errors found, and relieved that they had finally been picked up and corrected. To anyone looking for a competent editing service, I can attest that Bookmarks Editing is a premium provider at a very competitive price.

Two happy authors.

Bookmarks Editing has received some very welcome feedback recently:

I never thought I'd say this but I've met somebody who knows my books better than I - Dawn Lewis of Bookmarks Editing! Eagle-eyed Dawn doesn't miss a trick when it comes to editing and I was truly humbled (and embarrassed) to discover the glaring and not-so-glaring mistakes I'd made in the writing process. I can now write with new-found confidence, knowing that Dawn will pick up on every little mistake or gaping hole in my plot... I have no hesitation in hiring Dawn Lewis as editor on future books.
Jonathan Dunne, author of "Balloon Animals" and "Living Dead Lovers".

As a non-native English speaker, I need a bit of extra care from editors. Dawn has been a great help for editing my manuscript with careful observations and helpful comments, and always done in time.
